Stamped Concrete Patios, Driveways & Pool Decks in Plano, TX

Stamped concrete gives you the look of natural stone, brick, or wood at a fraction of the cost. At ProBuild Construction, we are experienced stamped concrete contractors serving Plano, Allen, Frisco, Prosper, and Celina. From elegant patio surfaces to grand driveways, we pour, stamp, and color concrete that looks like premium material and lasts for decades.

Unlike plain gray concrete, stamped concrete is a decorative finish applied during the pour. While the concrete is still wet, we press patterns into the surface and apply color to create a realistic texture that mimics stone, slate, brick, flagstone, or even wood planks. The result is a beautiful, durable surface at 30-50% less than the cost of real stone or pavers.

Where We Install Stamped Concrete

Patios: The most popular application. A stamped concrete patio creates an elegant outdoor living surface for dining, entertaining, and relaxing. Combine it with an outdoor kitchen or fire pit for a complete backyard transformation.

Driveways: Make a strong first impression with a stamped concrete driveway. Patterns like ashlar slate and cobblestone give your driveway the look of hand-laid stone. Properly poured at 5-6 inches thick with fiber mesh and rebar for vehicle loads.

Pool Decks: Non-slip textured stamps keep pool surrounds safe and comfortable. Cool-toned colors reflect heat for bare-foot comfort in Texas summers. Stamped concrete integrates beautifully with natural stone coping.

Walkways & Paths: Connect your front door, patio, pool, and garden with stamped concrete walkways that match your patio or driveway pattern.

Outdoor Kitchen Floors: A stamped concrete surface under and around your outdoor kitchen provides a durable, easy-to-clean base that complements stone veneer counters and cabinetry.

Retaining Wall Caps & Steps: Stamped concrete caps on block retaining walls and decorative steps between terraced levels add a finished, cohesive look to your landscape.

Popular Stamp Patterns

We carry over 40 stamp patterns. Here are the most requested by our Plano and DFW clients:

Ashlar Slate: Rectangular blocks in a random pattern. Clean, modern, and versatile. Our most popular pattern for patios and pool decks.

Random Flagstone: Irregular, organic shapes that mimic natural flagstone. Premium look that works beautifully in Texas landscapes.

Cobblestone: Old-world charm for driveways and walkways. European aesthetic with the durability of modern concrete.

Herringbone Brick: Classic brick pattern in a diagonal or 90-degree layout. Timeless appeal for traditional home styles.

Wood Plank: Realistic wood grain texture without the rot, splinters, or termite risk. Perfect for covered patios and outdoor living areas.

Seamless Texture: A subtle texture without defined joints or lines. Creates a natural stone appearance. Often used as a secondary texture for borders and accent areas.

Color Options

Stamped concrete color comes from two sources that work together:

Integral Color: Pigment mixed directly into the concrete before the pour. Colors the entire slab through and through, so chips and scratches don’t show a different color underneath. Available in earth tones: tan, buff, sandstone, terra cotta, brown, charcoal, and gray.

Color Hardener: A colored powder broadcast onto the surface during finishing. Provides a richer, more intense surface color and increases surface hardness by 1,500+ PSI. Available in 30+ colors.

Antiquing Release Agent: A contrasting accent color applied before stamping that settles into the stamp pattern joints and texture, creating depth and dimension. This is what makes stamped concrete look like real stone rather than flat colored concrete.

Most projects use a combination of all three: integral color for the base, color hardener for intensity, and antiquing release for depth. We bring color samples to your home so you can see options against your existing house and landscape.

Our Stamped Concrete Process

Free Consultation: We visit your home in Plano, Allen, Frisco, Prosper, or Celina. We measure the area, discuss pattern and color preferences, review your existing landscape and architecture, and provide a detailed quote.

Design & Color Selection: We bring stamp pattern samples and color charts to your home. You select your pattern, base color, hardener color, and release color. We create a color mockup so you know exactly what to expect.

Site Preparation: We excavate to proper depth (4 inches for patios, 5-6 inches for driveways), set forms, compact the subgrade, and install rebar or fiber mesh reinforcement.

Concrete Pour: We use 3,500-4,000+ PSI concrete with integral color. The concrete is placed, vibrated to remove air pockets, and screeded level.

Color Hardener Application: While the concrete is still fresh, we broadcast color hardener evenly across the surface and work it in with magnesium floats for a smooth, colored surface.

Stamping: At precisely the right time (not too wet, not too dry), our team presses the stamp mats into the surface in sequence. Timing is critical, which is why experienced crews make all the difference. We stamp the entire surface in one continuous session.

Detail Work: Edges, corners, and tight areas are hand-tooled with texture skins to match the stamped pattern. We cut control joints in strategic locations to manage cracking.

Washing & Sealing: After curing, we power-wash the surface to remove excess release agent and reveal the final color. Then we apply a high-quality acrylic or polyurethane sealer that protects the color and provides a satin or gloss finish.

Stamped Concrete vs. Pavers: Which Is Better?

Both are excellent outdoor surface options. Here is how they compare:

Cost: Stamped concrete costs $12-$20 per square foot installed. Pavers cost $15-$30 per square foot. Stamped concrete is typically 20-40% less expensive.

Appearance: Both look beautiful. Stamped concrete offers a seamless surface with no joints. Pavers have individual joints filled with sand.

Maintenance: Stamped concrete needs resealing every 2-3 years ($0.50-$1.00 per sq ft). Pavers need polymeric sand refreshed occasionally but no sealing.

Repair: If cracking occurs, stamped concrete is harder to patch invisibly. Individual pavers can be replaced. In North Texas clay soil, pavers flex with ground movement while concrete may crack.

Our recommendation: For large patios and pool decks where seamless appearance matters, stamped concrete is ideal. For driveways and areas over shifting soil, pavers may be the better long-term choice. We install both and can help you decide based on your specific property.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does stamped concrete cost in Plano, TX?

Stamped concrete typically costs $12-$20 per square foot installed, depending on pattern complexity and color system. A 400 square foot patio runs approximately $4,800-$8,000. Basic single-color, single-pattern jobs cost less. Multi-color systems with borders cost more. We provide exact quotes after measuring your space.

How long does stamped concrete last?

Properly poured and sealed stamped concrete lasts 25-30 years or more. The key is professional installation with correct thickness, reinforcement, and base preparation, plus regular resealing every 2-3 years to protect the color and surface.

Will stamped concrete crack?

All concrete can develop hairline cracks over time, especially in North Texas clay soil. We minimize cracking by using proper thickness, reinforcement (rebar or fiber mesh), control joints, and correct base preparation. If a crack does occur in a stamped surface, it often blends into the pattern joints and is much less visible than cracks in plain concrete.

How do I maintain stamped concrete?

Regular cleaning with a garden hose or pressure washer keeps stamped concrete looking great. Resealing every 2-3 years restores the color and protective finish. Avoid using de-icing salts in winter. We provide a maintenance guide with every project.

Can you stamp existing concrete?

We cannot stamp existing cured concrete. Stamping must be done while concrete is freshly poured and still workable. For existing concrete, we can apply a stampable overlay (a thin concrete coating) that can be stamped and colored. Overlays are a good option when demolishing existing concrete is not practical.
