We remove the existing sod, grade for drainage, lay and compact a base, and secure the turf with proper seaming and nailing before brushing in infill. Done right, the seams disappear and water runs off instead of standing.

Turf is sold by face weight, pile height and blade shape, and those numbers matter less than most sales pitches suggest. What actually determines how real it looks in a Texas yard is blade color variation, a thatch layer underneath, and whether the base was built to drain. A heavy, expensive turf on a flat, poorly drained base will look worse in two years than a mid-grade turf installed correctly.
Pet installations get built differently. The base is more permeable, the infill controls odor, and we secure the perimeter tighter because dogs work edges. Play areas can take a shock pad underneath. Putting greens use a shorter, denser turf with a different infill so the ball rolls true.
